Longhorn Village is Underway! On Friday,
August 24th we began a new chapter in our life together -
the groundbreaking for the first multi-unit project in
PAHH's history! I want to point out that the
groundbreaking was for the infrastructure; we will be
breaking ground for each unit separately in the near future.
The first four familieis have been selected for Phase 1 that
includes four townhome units.
Longhorn Village is beginning to take shape!
And I want to thank those who have had a hand in making it
happen: the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) who
is partnering with us on this project, both for funding and
for helping us with conceptual design: the Drachman
institute who, with an ADOH contract, provided the initial
design, to Bob Hershberger AIA, and his able draftsman,
Dustin Tallent for the construction design and drawings; and
Tetra Tech, who gave us the initial idea for the use of the
property, and has done all of the infrastructure design.
Other partners in the funding phases include the Federal
Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Arizona Community
Foundation, Coldwell Banker Bishop Realty and Chapman Auto
for the Jeep raffle, as well as National Bank of Arizona for
construction financing. I don't want to leave out
Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of America who also participate on
a regular basis in our funding and have helped on this
project already. Through all of the paperwork to make
this project a reality, the Town of Payson and its staff who
have provided guidance, direction and encouragement.
In short, we would not be able to accomplish
our mission of decent, affordable housing here in Rim
Country, without the dedication of many, many people.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a
dedicated community to change itself - one house at a time.
Thank you all for your part in this great
mission!
